Susan began her professional journey as an educator; the fulfillment of her childhood vision to become a teacher. She graduated from Valley Forge Christian College  (now called University of Valley Forge) with an Education degree where she collaborated with the Education department to develop a community tutoring center. Susan graduated with honors from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. Upon first arriving in Texas in 2001 Susan substituted in the WFISD, worked briefly for Vernon College at the Century City Campus, and held a position at Midwestern State University as Assistant Director of Institutional Research. She completed her counseling internship in the evenings and was licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors in 2004. Susan's areas of research include Maternal Deprivation, Moral Development in Education, Negative Automatic Thoughts in Groups, Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Essential Tremor, Differential Diagnosis Between Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Attachment Disorder, Prevention of Eating Disorders in Middle School, and development of the Child's Automatic Thought Questionnaire (CAT-Q). She also develops and presents seminars to peers and community organizations in addition to operating as a consultant to businesses throughout Region 9. Susan earned Diplomate status with the Academy of Cognitive Therapy after extensive training and evaluation. Susan regularly volunteers in the community and currently Volunteers pro Bono counseling for veterans & dependents and survivors of natural disasters through GiveAnHour. She is the grandmother of three granddaughters, rescuer of Rosie, and an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
